Entrepreneurship Development Cell

Entrepreneurship Development Cell (EDC & IIC)

The Entrepreneurship Development Cell and Innovation Incubation Cell (EDC & IIC) was established at Megha Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women to cultivate entrepreneurial capabilities among students. This initiative supports learners in converting creative concepts into viable products while shaping an effective teaching-learning ecosystem.

The cell provides comprehensive assistance including mentoring, strategic planning, and execution support for startup ventures. Beyond individual guidance, it organises regular training activities to inspire students and transform entrepreneurial ideas into concrete business proposals — enabling students to transition from job seekers into job creators.

Functions

  • Support aspirants through mentoring and execution of startup ideas
  • Conduct awareness programmes in collaboration with MSMEs and established entrepreneurs
  • Build strategic alliances with organisations promoting innovation
  • Facilitate industrial visits for prospective entrepreneurs
  • Support interdisciplinary student and staff initiatives
  • Provide information services and institutional support for budding entrepreneurs
  • Organise training camps and awareness campaigns
  • Build the necessary entrepreneurial skills among participants
  • Offer infrastructure and technical resources for idea incubation
  • Host competitions for project proposal development

Coordinator Responsibilities

The coordinator plans regular activities and awareness initiatives, encourages departmental programmes, creates yearly activity schedules, provides guidelines to committee members, conducts biannual meetings, supervises volunteers, and maintains documentation. The coordinator also liaises with district and state entrepreneurship officials, convenes committee meetings, and manages IEDC equipment and resources.

Faculty & Student Roles

Faculty members execute departmental activities and motivate student participation. Student members learn startup-establishment procedures, understand how innovations transform into products and services, and explore government funding opportunities through organisations such as MSME.
